Every year Milano turns into a giant exhibition which seems to be bigger and bigger year by year:

the whole city takes part in Milan Design Week with pop-up show rooms and installations. This September was not an exception. Basic Collection team visited the city of design and we came back with plenty of experiences. We’ve seen a lot of new design and we’re still impressed by Salone del Mobile! Let’s have a look at our favorites!

Gala by Cristina Celestino

Saba presented new modular sofa collection

Gala seating system was presented in the occasion of Supersalone. The designer Cristina Celestino gave a touch of subtle reference to the retro-future atmosphere of sofas that inhabited the ‘70s. Saba explores the flexibility of the upholstered object with a sculptural and sophisticated volume, what makes it suitable to interpreting different visions of interiors, from residential to hospitality contexts.
“Gala is a contemporary seating system but, as always, my research moved freely through time, in search for references from most diverse contexts, to reach a synthesis of my journey. If the theme of plissé so dear to me, as investigated by Roberta di Camerino, is part of my ideas, it was then contaminated with the visionary and sculptural fashion of Pierre Cardin. So was the retro-future atmosphere typical of the 70s interiors and the production of upholstery of that precursory era of a very unrestrained and free-from-schemes vision of the sofa.” - Cristina Celestino*

P47 by Franco Poli

Pure design with a strong and decisive soul

P47 collection by Franco Poli is inspired by the multidimensionality of the universe. P47 got its name after the number of fixing points of the first prototype. This is an innovative collection since Poli used only two materials to held together without the use of chemical agents. As the universe itself the pieces of P47 collection are very complex materials due to their natural and elastic characteristics.*

BRASS 95/96 pendant lamp & LOLL 09 armchair

Gervasoni brand can be described by warm and inviting shades like mustard yellow, burnt and mud. Like a perfect palette of autumn leaves, juxtaposed with natural tones like shades of greys: the emblematic asphalt greys and the new colors of the Gray collection, which expands the oak finishes with a warm Dove Grey and an intense Ocean*

Right now, the sky is AZURE!

The selection made for the Supersalone is their way to express how much they believe in what they do: we didn’t find only new products, but also new proposals in terms of fabrics and materials, highlighting the constant research behind it – which allows them to never tire of doing what they love the most: „make furniture”, after all.
AZ Awards 2021 Winner: Soda Coffee Table – was born upside-down, with a puff of air. It weighs 20 kilos, and it is blown, drawn out and shaped by three master glassmakers. The result is a single volume of glass with three large petals forming the stem.

In Soda, the glass vibrates: its tough, hammered surface fragments its transparency to give a primitive aesthetic. This is artistic value granted to an industrial product.*

Plus corner sofa

A seating, a system, a world.

A modular system with many functions. It can be pouf, sofa or relaxation island. Whether you need a happy place around a blue swimming pool or in a green garden the PLUS sofa helps you to create it. And in addition – as its name suggests – there is a PLUS: the collection offers you not only elegance but versatility. An addition because the soft and attractive profile of each solution, from the pouf to the chair and sofa, extends to accommodate a body in the lying position. An addition because thanks to an extremely simple hooking system it just takes a second to re-arrange and redesign the profile. More than an idea, it is a world.*
